I’m Niall, an experienced recording & mix engineer based in Edinburgh, but working all over. – I have a somewhat ‘old school’ approach to recording, balanced with my ingrained punk ethos to break things. My mantra has always been about capturing noise in high fidelity – the dichotomy of professionalism and chaos. – I’ve been making records at Chamber Studio since 2014, until becoming more formally involved as a house engineer in 2018. In ’23, I built and operated my own studio, 456 Audio, and now work freelance. – Now, I work anywhere, but my usual studios of choice are: Pocketsounds, Edinburgh Chime, Glasgow Gorbals Sound, Glasgow – I have around 20 years training and experience as an audio engineer, both formally and practically. I graduated with a Masters degree in 2013, and have spent the majority of my life playing in bands, touring and recording (always the de facto producer, of course). – I work in any genre, but I’m most passionate about the noisier & experimental side of things. Stay organic. Stay weird. – When I’m not engineering, you can find me playing synths, guitars and making a horrific noise in bands like Damn Teeth & Urvanovic.
